Blower used?

Is there a blower installed in this fireplace? We have just completed a project that looks just like this but the fireplace is too hot for the tv. We are wondering if installing a blower will fix our problem

I'm not sure about this fireplace in particular, but I would check with the fireplace or television manufacturer since there are certain clearances that need to be followed. They also might suggest installing a mantel to act as a heat shield. Best of luck!

We've been down this road before.

Your TV manufacturer will tell you exactly what the manual says, which is not to install the television near a source of heat.

The fireplace manual will only tell you the required clearance to combustibles. At the required clearance, objects will still get up to about 190 degrees F., which is much too hot for a TV.

A mantel shelf will help, but you need to observe the required clearances.

A blower will usually help as well, dropping the temperature 25-20 degrees above the fireplace.

If you can post a photo of your situation or supply more details, I can probably be more specific.

    Nice project, Realstone!

We installed a blower and it completely solved the problem of too much heat rising to the tv, plus the room heats up quickly now.
