Good riddance to a red brick fireplace!

We moved into our new home the last week in August and within a week we'd called in a contractor to discuss taking down the red brick fireplace wall in the living room. We lucked out with our contractor - Everyday Remodeling in Eugene, Oregon - as one of the crew is an expert stone mason. In addition to rebuilding our firebox with great attention and care, he dramatically transformed the room with the addition of ledge stone. We're thrilled with the results!

We mounted our TV above the new fireplace because it's the focal point of our room, and that's where the seating is facing. To avoid the pain of watching a TV placed way too high, however, we installed a ComfortVu motorized TV mount that brings the TV forward and down to a comfortable viewing position. Being in this room is now a pleasure!

Wow, nicely done! What a well thought out solution for the TV above the fireplace location! Your room is beautiful now.

Sorry, but I preferred the red brick to the monster transformer TV that covers half the fireplace

With all due respect, I think interior designers need to pay more attention to the way people actually live in the rooms they decorate - and watching movies and TV, playing video games, and listening to music are at the top of the list for most of us.

TV over fireplace! First, the TV might be grilled and second, TV is way too high.

The red brick had to go, for sure. I love the materials and furnishings in the room, very nice picks. Clever solution to move the TV for viewing, but I'm finding the big TV balancing over the smaller fireplace to be out of proportion, maybe it's just me. Really big improvement overall though! Enjoy!
