I had ordered $1200 worth of this tile by Susan Jablon. I took 3 months for me to get it and when I did the color and quality did not match the 2 full sample sheets that I had order just before I placed my order. The samples look dead on to the pictured tile but the acutal tile I recieved was more white with slight blue rather than the lovey bluish with a bit of green as shown. The company does have a disclaimer about dye lots however since I was told due to demand they couldn't keep it in stock, and it would be back order for the amount I order from the overseas manufactor there would have been no way I could have recieved an acurate sample. So disapointed and no response from the company about this problem. (the samples are the lower tiles)

When I went to their website, the tile looked really pale white on my monitor... I'm looking for a gray blue, so I'm searching gor something else! It's hard to find something in the shade I'm looking for

You are so very welcome! I am posting this where ever I see someone asking about this tile so they don't have the same experience and spend money on something they may not be able to use. I am a retired architect and this tile was for a client friend of mine. The above comparison between the sample and product in shade variances is unacceptable.

UPDATE Susan Jablon indicated that she wanted both me and my client happy. She said she would handle the costs of shipping back as well as a full refund. I like the bluish white color and will be buying it from my client for use in my own personal remodel for my bath room. The tile in itself is beautiful , but just didn't come close to the sample color which we received 1st. She has beautiful tile I recommend calling to get a sample for the current dye lot.

I am having the exact same experience as hh65! Loved this tile after viewing it on this site, received a beautiful sample and waited months before receiving it. The tile I received was SO inferior to the sample. Like hh65, I never would have ordered this tile because it's so different from the sample, and I'm very disappointed that what I thought I was getting no longer exists. Susan Jablon is sending out samples of other tiles and seems intent to have satisfied customers. Stay tuned... Hh65, your idea book is very similar to mine. Have you selected another tile yet? I found some nice tile at Ann Sacks. I ordered several samples that I plan on customizing them together that will be similar color with a bit of sparkle like the 1st sample I received from Susan Jablon. I will post if it looks good.

heidi & hi13, I was wondering if either of you had installed the new tile. I myself received a sample 7 months ago, which was beautiful, and after reading your comments asked for a current sample. My new sample is the same as you have described. I am wondering if either of you have pictures of the "new" version of this tile installed or any other tiles you ended up finding that mimicked the original version of this tile. I too love the above Houzz picture and if the overall same look is achieved I'd be happy to end the hunt and move on with the purchase. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Hello A122...First I have to say that Susan Jablon has been EXCELLENT about assuring customer satisfaction. It seems to be a priority. Because the tile I received was SO very different from the sample tile, I was given a full refund ...including shipping. Very impressive for any online company. I did not find the new tile at all acceptable, and choose a different tile from a different company. The original tile was absolutely, incredibly gorgeous, and I was so, SO very excited to have it installed. I even asked for outside vendors to order it from. To me, the new tile looked like a cheap imitation...kind of like plastic 'pop up' beads....not the beautiful translucent greenish-hued sample tile. My new tile is fine...I'll share the brand if you'de like, but I'm just so very very sorry that the original green-hued milky translucent curved glass tile was no longer available. Too bad Heidi didn't post photos of the sample tile and current tile. That would really clarify things. My small 6 tile sample piece would be too small for comparison.

I am unbelievably sorry to say that this happened to me too. I am building a new home and was obsessed with this kitchen. I actually even had the builder redesign the kitchen plans to match this one exactly. I ordered a large sample of the backsplash, which was basically a half sheet of the full sheet of tile. After that I ordered over thousand dollars worth of the tile for my new kitchen. The tile just arrived yesterday and I was shocked to see that it was translucent, clear, and almost white. The sample I received was that beautiful blue green color very opaque and saturated with color. I have been in a major meltdown ever since. I've been crying and don't even know what to do as I purchased everything that you see in this picture. I got the lighting, the hardware, the rug runner, blue dishes, etc. I am a mess! Susan is very nice and I'm sure I can return it but all that money I spent to match this kitchen is wasted. Maybe it would work with a different countertop with more color. But the way it is now, I fear it's all too white.

I am attaching a pic of the sample(on left) and what I received as full order (on right) huge difference. If anyone received the lighter tile and used it, please, please post pics. I am about to lose my mind, truly!

that could be an exact picture of my sample and tile side by side. I'm was thinking about using it because I loved the other one so much but then every time I look at them side by side, there's no comparison. chloenkitty, I am in the EXACT boat as you. My installers are ready to tile the backsplash but now I have to start my search all over again. Any pictures or advice/info people have would be greatly appreciated.

Ai22 isn't it horrible? We even paid to have the kitchen blueprints redone to match this kitchen. I know there are worse things in the world, but I'm a mess right now. I've spent so much money on all the lighting, rugs, etc. I got everything I could that was in the kitchen. Some people think if I have the wall behind it painted blue or a colored grout, it will make a difference. However, for all this money, I don't know if I can take the chance!!! I am attaching a pic of my second favorite kitchen, but there's no way I could totally replicate it as the cabinetry, even the chairs are very expensive. I'm just sick over it and don't know if I should chance it. If you happen to keep it and install it, please post picks ASAP, even if it's not done. The place I got it from wants a decision soon, but I need some time to decide. She's going to see if she can find me a pic of someone who did it in the lighter version.

Believe me...I totally feel your pain. As I said, I was SO excited about this tile. It was very unique and even my designer was impressed with it. It was far superior to her suggestion of the boring subway tile everyone's using. I don't like the new 'replacement' tile at all. You'll find something else...time to move on..

Ai22, what other tiles are you liking? Did you look into keeping the tile and maybe trying a different countertop? I'm just worried the 3 main aspects of the kitchen, the cabinets, the backsplash and the counters will all be too light, no contrast. I considered black countertops and keeping the original countertop on the island, but I just don't think I want to do that.

I did contemplate using it. As I said I loved the old tile so much that I was hoping if I painted the back of the wall, or used different grout, or even looked at it in the right light it would magically turn into the gorgeous curved milk glass I loved. But then I came across this picture which Im fairly certain is the "new" version of this tile and taking in account it's not a professional photo, I still see too much of a difference and too much blue that I can not justify spending over $1000 to take a chance. I've attached the picture. I guess there's always the 2x4 white beveled subway that looks very safe and classic, that's the direction I'm heading in now. Has anyone ever gotten a response on why they changed this tile? and if there are any other outside vendors or distributors that make/carry the original?

I wouldn't suggest a black countertop. It looks beautiful for about 2 seconds. I don't know of anyone who hasn't regretted installing it. Check out Exquisite Kitchen design's 'Cherry hills remodel'. The Ann Sacks tile above the stove is beautiful. Also, Walter Zanger's Mizu Pebb tile might work for you. Hope this helps.

Ai22 where did you find that pic? I'd like to see it somewhere besides here. Grateful you posted it, but it's too small to really tell.

Susan Jablon just said the lot turned out lighter and that she wasn't getting anymore. I wish shed force the manufacturer to make another lot in a bluer hue.

I went a different direction for my backsplash after reading all the negetive replies I got about this title... Perhaps you could post this picture in a separate "discussion" and ask if anyone has seen tile similar to this one? There is just sooooo much out there- another company could have have something close or even better! Tile companies look thru all these queries for opportunities to show their product... Couldn't hurt!! And good luck to you both as you find the perfect tile for your dream kitchens! It has taken me 2 1/2 years!

A122 & Chloenkitty: I will share the tile I'm using with you tomorrow. We're building a beach house in HI., and that's where all my tile is right now. The tile store where I picked out my tile here in CA. is closed for the day, but I'll get the details tomorrow. It's a 6x3 clear glass subway tile, but the color is pretty unique...kind of a very pale greenish, light bluish, pale gray color. More blue-gray than green. It's pretty. What I don't like about the New SJ curved tiles is the iridescent sheen they have on them. Looks cheapy to me. We seem to all have similar tastes...so I have to share the most AWESOME interior paint color with you. Titanium by Benjamin Moore is awesome! Light greenish grayish beige(ish). I used it in several rooms, and it looks different in every room. Wish I would've used it throughout the entire house!

As far as the tiles from glasstilestore, thank you. What I liked about the original tile is the iridescent. I love shimmer and bling without it being overdone and this foot the bill for me. And Hawaii?!! I'd live in a box and be happy there :) good for you!!

HaHaHa...yes we're very lucky. I agree with you that the slight iridescent and the translucence on the greenish tiles was beautiful. I just don't care for it on the new ones. I think they look plastic. But hey...maybe it will look good up. My last thought for you though would be that your kitchen just might be too 'white' with this tile. The subtle color of the green-hued milk glass really would have been perfect.

Ai22. Although I still wish it was bluer like my sample, I am feeling better about it. I went a few places, showed several people and everyone was crazy about it. I guess if you don't know what the original sample looked like, like we do, it would not bother you as much. One woman i spoke to and actually showed the original sample to, liked the lighter ones better. She thought it was more neutral and I wouldn't tire of it like I might if it was more blue. I put it next to white cabinetry and a few different countertops. Although I'm unsure of what countertop I'd go with, I can say that a countertop with a warmer tone seemed to bring out the blue in the tile. The few countertops that were warmer had some tan in them like danberry and Calcutta gold marble. The cooler marbles like carrera looked nice but a bit frosty.

What does that make you think? Wishing the original poster checked back on what she posted and showed us a picture!!

I ended up going with a 6x3 glass subway tile that is a very pale blue/gray. I do really like it and it goes perfectly with my white cabinets. I've hunted for tile in many places, but there was only one store that had this particular tile. Sorry I don't have photos to share, but they haven't installed the tile yet, and all my tile is in HI. The name of the tile is 276- Galapagos 'Tide' gloss 3x6. I'm sure if you email or call Helene @ Chic Tile (Chictile.com) 650-366-2442 she will be happy to send a photo or a sample. I think you might be happy with it. And BTW, with a 'contractor's discount' the tile was about $18/sf. Hope this helps!

Chloenkitty and A I 22ND so sorry to hear about your experiences. I did post a picture of original sample and what I received. my shipment seemed to have a lot of 1 ft sq. tile that where more dense with a milky blue and them ones more like your posting with the translucent look. I plan on mixing the denser one in with the translucent to get a better over all look. yes I will peel off individual tiles and place them so I get a uniformed ratio in each 1 ft sq. but I am a designer so I do this all the time. I don't have it up yet as we ran into structural issues that we had to stop the fun stuff and take care of the basement of the house. however I decided to use it in the kitchen like originally planned. painting the wall behind wouldn't help as the thin set to set the tile is white and blue grout will make the grout the focal. it will be blue and not green as you want it to be. now you can darken it up with the color cast of other materials next to it. I plan on using white cabinets and creamy marble counter top as I am liking the blue but I have a lots of denser milky blue sheets to work with. if yours is more of just the transplant you will never get the look u where originally going for. it is easier to find a new tile than change your whole kitchen especially if u have already have your materials.

Has anyone tried ordering this SJ tile more recently to determine if the coloring issues have been resolved?

Mine was recently installed and I'm happy with it. It's not as blue or opaque as the sample I got but I'm kind of happy about that now as it is softer and more neutral. It is definitely blue, just a soft baby blue.

Chloenkitty, where did you find those fabulous pendant lights in your kitchen? They are beautiful!

Chloe's kitchen is absolutely gorgeous! I actually love it more than the kitchen that I was intending to copy with the aqua tiles. I have the Cafe appliances too and love the wine cooler idea. Did you get the West Elm rug? I can't find it. Maybe a Pottery Barn one will suffice!

What color and brand cabinets did you get?
