I can probably give you a pretty accurate breakdown of costs with some of this information, and then you can apply it to your budget. How does that sound?

That sounds extremely helpful. The house will be a single family home, leaning towards Shingle Style, 2 story, 31/2 baths, 4 bedrooms, patio with outdoor living/cooking area. We're in southern Vermont. Thanks so much for your input.

Good morning Catherine. Though there is no hard and fast % formula, I'll take your project specs for use as an example. I'm going to use $145/sq ft as overall construction costing. You can then tweek the numbers based on your estimates.

4000 sq ft x $145 = $580,000. Project Cost
Kitchen Allowance- Cabinets ( material only)- $24,000
Kitchen Counters ( material/installed)-$8,000
Knob allow- $ 300
Plumbing fixtures allowances-( toilet, sink/fuacet, tub/shower, shower doors)
for:
Main Bath- $3,100 + $1,000 vanity
Master Bath- $6,250 + $ 2000 vanity
Guest bath- $ 2,100 + $800 vanity
1/2Bath- $1,000 + $800 vanity.
