Nine Foot Sofa - Lime Green?

We purchased a 1970s sofa several years ago. We can finally afford to re-upholster it and what fabric does my husband choose from the swatches i brought home? Lime green microfiber. Can our livingroom handle a nine foot lime green couch? Personally I love the color but that's pretty extreme even for me.

I also like lime green, however, you might get tired of it and it is expensive to purchase fabric and reupholster it. Would you consider choosing a more neutral fabric for the sofa and use the bold colors for the cushions? This way, you have more flexibility in the future and can change pillows easier. I have added of some example, one with green sofas and one with neutral sofas with green cushions. Both are great. Think long term.

Need pictures of the room...but off hand, that's a lot of color with limited texture.

I would say it opens the door to lots of possibilities, should be fun. As for texture you can add that so many ways.

We were going to go with a Mid Century look but with lime green, that puts the decor firmly back into the 70s. I'm ok with that but it'll be hard to find some accessories. I wonder if microfiber will stand up to daily use.

I would still use this sofa I think you can still get the MCM feel with what else you go with. You sure don't have to go to 70's just because of sofa. You could also see if hubby would be willing to go with a more avacado side of green. Microfiber stands up very well but pets hair sticks like crazy so get good pet brush for vacuum. Can't wait to see pics of sofa.

Some of the fabrics in my swatches seem more substantial than the MCM. I have several swatches in the apple green shades and two in olive. One light, one very dark. I'm more inclined to go lighter, though. And the lime would be stunning. I found a living room that was lime and turquoise and white which looked very nice. That means re-painting our orange wall, but it needs some repairs anyway so that can be done.

How great that your hubby picked a bold colour.

Lime green works great with turquoise accents...like pillows and lamps. just use lots of creamy neutrals in rugs and walls, and you should be fine. Do you have a pic of the space? You could have a wonderful large piece of art in the room with the lime green in it!

Lime green could be very fun! I really love chartreuse or an apple green.

It will pair well with gray and as already mentioned, turquoise.

Indianpatti, I think I have a swatch of that very same fabric. I like that type of fabric better than the microfiber.

I'm not a fan of microfiber....it feels too funky against my skin.

But that's just me....

Here is the sofa in all it's glory, against a pumpkin orange wall. The lights have washed out the colors a bit. The carpet will be changed to a more neutral color and an area rug put down in front of it.

Can't possibly be any worse go for the green, I would wait to decide on rug until sofa inplace. You will have to paint for sure
