They are super energy efficient but give off a different light. It's not as soft it is more toward fluorescent.

Don't like it at all. Harsh looking, not a warm glow.

Go to Home Depot and read their " wall of light bulbs." Lighting is almost as personal as underwear. My opinion is they are very expensive but for fabric artists or photographers they are the only choice in lighting. Halogens are hot and don't wear very well. Incandescents are what most of us are used to but use far more energy than is needed. CFLs have the ugliest light imaginable but are energy efficient and cheap. LEDs last almost forever, are pretty expensive, and have some choice in light color.

There is an outfit in Mt Vernon, Washington that represents low voltage LED lighting that you can actually have control over the color temperature. You don't have to have blue. You can have daylite color or tungsten.

They have two or three different ways to diffuse the light too. What is really unique is that you can also dim these lights without changing temperature. ("temperature" is code for the Kelvin rating.) Look outside your window at morning or dusk and the light will have an orange glow whereas in the middle of the afternoon the light will be more white in color. You can achieve the same effect with these LED lights.

i am getting LED lights with a dimmer-will that be ok?

If your asking me what I think about LED lighting... That's a no-brainer. Hell yeah! Who doesn't want to save money in the long run and help the environment? I have use LED recessed lighting on several commercial projects in addition to residential projects. On the residential side I am a huge advocate for being able to control your light source (i.e. dimmers). I also like being able to have unique lighting (meaning not just your standard 6" recessed can). They make it 2" recessed LED light that is just out of this world. I'll say this way... do your homework.

I am having led under lighting installed tomorrow. I don't want lights too bright so I am having a dinner out in. Worried that it will change look on counter and baxksplash

Hate making decisions bad at decorating I have a friend helping me who is a decorator but still have anxiety about counter tops. My husband wanted black counters and I wante light. Ended up getting madreperelo . Hope it looks great with a medium wood brown shaker cabinet.

How do I do that?

I visited Walmart. I couldn't any find LEDS that came close to producing the amount of lumens as a 75 watt incandescent bulb. Any ideas of where i can search next? They have LEDS, but they all looked like to be used as under cabinet lights

i love LEDs. "soft white" normal bulbs hurt my eyes. LED is a cleaner light, and it doesn't hurt.

I hate fluorescent but just had all LED put into my new kitchen - cans and under cabinet. Cans are on a dimmer. Love it!

In our latest kitchen we installed a mixture of led and xenon lighting. We have ceiling spot fixtures that we retrofitted with LEDs. The under-cabinet lights are xenon. And the island hood has LEDs. There are various types of LEDs and basically they come in warm or cool versions. We chose warm. The island hood came with very dim ones and we changed them out for brighter ones. I feel better about having a lot of lighting on in the kitchen knowing that the running cost is less and they will last much longer than incandescent lighting. They also burn much cooler. I remember the days of flickering fluorescent lighting and still shy away from them.
