Thank you for your interest in Eck MacNeely Architects! The kitchen ceiling consists of perforated aluminum panels inset between structural steel beams. Recessed lighting is embedded in the panels. Above is a second-floor loft we added to this double-height condo. The architect's vision was that the loft takes on a lantern-like appearance after dark with softened light emanating from it via interior windows that look down upon the dining + living area (not visible here) and via the kitchen ceiling.
