Love this kitchen! Love the wood floors but every contractor I tell I want wood says don't do wood floor-Please tell me it would be ok!!!

What do you mean "dont do wood floors"? Are you in a tropical climate? Engineered flooring is all you need :-) It will still be a real wood floor but have a ply backer board that keeps it stable.

I'm struggling with how to answer. There will be some maintenance required with hardwood (engineered being a great choice) but really there is with tile as well. You cannot get the warmth or comfort underfoot with any other flooring choice besides wood. I like carpet in bedrooms or dens but otherwise I'd always opt for hardwood. What I would recommend is doing the hardwood in a medium stain color so that it hides the most dirt/debris and consider a matte oil finish rather than a poly satin or gloss finish. I think the scratches and etching that make a hardwood floor require maintenance are much less noticeable on a oil based matte finish coat. Good luck!
