I love this new combination. The backsplash is a winner and the Glacier White is too. Two thumbs up!

I would think too much white

I like the dark counter. Granite is everywhere, and cold..when it dates a costly replacement the dark is different. I have creamy white cabinets and dark rusty brown concrete counters and love it..lots of compliments

Before deciding, I suggest you choose the exact piece of stone you're gonna bring home and compare it to the tile and not rely on a sample because, as Cdric mentioned, you should be careful so your whites have the same undertones. You could also have the lower cabinets or maybe just an island painted another color to break up the white if you feel it's too white. I think your choice of granite would look lovely and not too white with all white cabs personally.

I vote for the dark counter. Soapstone looks nice in a white kitchen too.

Love the glacier granite! I would go with a larger size, 3x 12 white or gray glass tile. .

Here is soapstone in a white kitchen. I like the contrast but I agree that all white kitchens can look nice if the white shades don't compete. I simply love this second kitchen, but note the color in the backsplash, the really dark floors, and the dark island cabinets. So, lots of white but some nice contrast too.

Thanks everyone for your input!! Keep them coming!! The island counter will be a dark brown almost black base. I am leaning towards the white but am looking into a more grey backsplash.

I think the first option is gorgeous and classic. I think you'll be very happy with it.

I am an expert when it comes to this. The grigio mosaic with the glacier white paired with white cabinets would look very good. There would be quite a bit of white so let's hope your flooring and paint colors will contrast a bit.

I think the white on white on white may well be a trend and that using a contrasting grey backsplash will be timeless and appeal to those who want an airy kitchen, but not a sterile kitchen.

Diana, have you considered the white counter on your dark island cabinets and something like soapstone on the white perimeter cabinets? That's certainly another option.

Love the glacial white with white glass on white cabinets. Hate that dark granite. If I were to do dark counters with white cabs, I would only do black Cambrian honed or soapstone. Go for the white!!!!! You will love it. And, it is not trendy...it is classic.

I get that. I think the dark island cabinets will help break up the white enough. Especially if you can also find a gray backsplash (I think you mentioned that as your current thought) that is a good compliment to everything. That gray backsplash could be quite nice with your floor too!

Your current backsplash is very pretty, not stark at all. I do think it is wise to physically hold a sheet of backsplash tile next to granite even if you have to buy a sheet. I think the subtlety of the backsplash will really work well with your beautiful granite. (I am writing the name of that one down!)

Saratogaswigglestick I do love the simplicity of the backsplash as well. I'm going tomorrow to look at the Glacier White countertop against it and will post the picture, will appreciate the feedback from everyone. I also do like the dark. Punter top however I'm worried it is too dark

You have to go with what you love so if your heart lies with the dark get that one. Don't you just love spell check!

Here is a kitchen that has mostly white

I love both your "white" granite options! I would think about going with a larger white glass tile too if your kitchen is big enough to support it. You can run the tile vertical or horizontally as well depending on what works in your space.

The kitchen isn't big at all. I attached a picture of the plan. Hopefully this will give an idea that there really won't be too much white if I went with a lighter countertop

I have used the Glacier White before in a kitchen and it was beautiful! I think you are on the right track with your selections. I am partial to the darker floor.

I love this look, I just finished my Kitchen with a white glass tile and similar counters. I did use a dark floors.

We are building a new home with espresso cabinets, Alpine white granite on all counters and back splashes and Nu Travertine porcelain tiled floors. I had considered white cabinets, but also thought that it would have too much white in the kitchen, plus I have a huge SS 48" range and hood which also makes it brighter. So, I like the choice you have made with the white cabinets, although it may be too bright for me and I like the richness of the darker cabinets. I have had dark countertops and it was terrible to keep shiny and clean. Dust showed immediately. So good job on your selections..

White is great, but no one above has mentioned that lighter colored granites tend to show more stains. The white colors do not take the sealer as well as the darker colors. Oils, soaps and acids are not recommended. You should ask your fabricator about this. I work for a flooring company who also fabricates granite countertops. Our fabricators strongly advise against lighted colors and make every customer sign a disclaimer regarding the issues that arise.

You could also try working with other alternatives to granite such as quartz. Maintenance free and worth every penny.

Thanks for all the advice everyone!!! I went to go look at a full slab of the glacier white and fell in love. It looked very classic, fresh, & elegant!! With the dark island counter and floors I don't think there will be too much white at all. The house won't be completed until June, so I will definitely post pictures! Thanks again everyonewhite at all! I am still debating on the backsplash. The house won't be finished for bother

go for a larger backsplash tile, I think those long narrow tiles are already getting dated, love the look of the white granite in glacier white. Good luck, whatever you decide, you will love it
