love the moose head. where did you get it? it looks very clean and simple, not sure if i would put anything else up.

i also like the idea of keeping mantle clear. if you do want something, i would only do glass.

Another vote for a clear mantle or something very simple -- what comes to mind is two matching crystal balls, placed symmetrically, on simple but not cheap-looking stands. If you get get them in a pearlescent, creamy white (seems to be possible), so much the better. I don't know if the website where I found this pic sells crystal balls, but if the idea intrigues you, you might find it interesting.

I would go with two white pieces on the mantle, slender and tall, and one taller than the other, one on each side near the ends of the mantle. Don't make them match. Just enough to soften the impact of the moosehead yet blend with it.

On our walls we have pictures of things we love. Can't imagine chopping off the head and then mounting THAT on our walls.

I don't think it is a real moose head. It looks like carved wood to me. Beautiful and unique!

I would go bold a do a trio of red vases or candle holders . Can't be too tall and should all be of the same family but identical.

Two crystal balls . One to tell you what you're going to do in the future. One to tell you where you put that lost thing in your past.

I have a suggestion for the windows that I think will help substantiate the moose. I would replace the sheers with off-white drapery panels that are tied back on each side. Then I agree with others to keep the mantel open but I would add some metal, reflective items. I see pewter candlesticks on one side and a tall skinny pewter cylinder on the other.
