I would remove the bar light fixture. It is not fittting with this room. I would get a floor lamp for task light.

So, you want to replace the fixture by the window? What is the purpose of this area? I see not furniture there, other than the etagere on the wall.

Also, I would highly recommend getting rid of the swag in your chandelier. It wouldn't cost that much to get your electrical moved.

The area adjacent to the room has a chair and ottoman. I agree about the swag but budget prohibits wiring this area of the ceiling. Here is. View from the kitchen.

Good idea Margo, but I think we will take the fixture out and wire the chandelier to that box. I absolutely hate the swag but love the chandelier!

My husband can do it because of the existing box that we won't be using. The entire left side of the ceiling is not wired for any fixtures. 1970s builders special. If I had my way we would put pot lights.
