Heating and Cooling - ducted vs Splits

I am doing research to figure out in a two story warehouse style loft style town home (1200 square feet) what would be the cheapest most efficient way to heat and cool a home - 3 wall split units for Master, Guest bedrooms, and Kitchen/ dining / Great room?? OR just one big ducted AC unit with interior exposed tubes/ ducts for the whole house? Help!

Ask a local HVAC specialist about fresh air requirements and make-up air requirements for things like bath fans, water heaters, range hoods, and fireplaces. Going ductless only means that you will need to find other ways to provide these requirements, which will also cost some money.
