Fireplace

We are designing a screen porch/ sunroom addition to our home in northeast ny with a fireplace at one end similar to yours. I prefer wood burning but am finding that code / cost issues limit us to gas fireplace. Is this a masonry wood burning fireplace and if so is it required to go over the house line ad be anchored o the home? Would you Share cost range? It's a beautiful room. Thanks

This room is beautiful. I too live in the northeast and had my sunroom built yesterday..I may get a electric fireplace. I am hooked up to a gasoline line so a gas one is not out of the question. Is the fireplace going to be your only source of heat for your room? Being that ours is unheated we are trying io find the appropriate walls. So our room is a work in progress..Good luck with yours, would love to follow your progress..

Hi Tracy - I was the architect on the project and if you look at the side view, the fireplace chimney extends beyond minimum code requirements. We designed authentic, custom made traditional storm windows for the cooler seasons and traditional screens for summer. Combination of raidant heat floor, wood burning masonry fireplace and southern exposure keep this room very comfortable on cold winter days. Let me know if you have any questions. Feel free to contact me at csachs@mcmgrp.com. Good luck with your project.

Would you have a suggestion as to what kind of material to use as a wall in an unheated sunroom in the northeast?
