Perfect example of how creamy Benjamin Moore White Dove is

Look at it alone and it is just pleasing to the eye and looks white. But if you look at the tub....that is like Decorator White or an Ultra White .... You SEE the difference. I am now just painting all the previous super white trim and ceilings White Dove and my first thought seeing it against the stark ubber white Kilz Primer mi was like what am I doing...doubting myself. Now seeing one whole section completely done...it looks white but calming. There is just so much talk about White Dove vs. brighter whites and I thought I'd point out this photo to help people see better.

In fact, on Houzz there was a fantastic white that people say was the other very popular white besides White Dove. It is very popular - I tried it and loved it too. The name will keep coming up in paint talks. Like put in houzz search "paint whiter than White Dove" If I come across the name I will get back to you.

Thanks. I love it for the space. But I have to say...if you have a decent sized house and already have trim in bright white and thinking of switching to White Dove...think really hard. It will require a lot of time which means a very expensive paint job. Make sure to test it out first and live with it in the room's light. Actually paint a 12" piece of wood trim with primer and 2 coats of White Dove. IF the paint takes on a yellow tone get a different color. You don't want creamy to equal yellow. In my case it's perfect.

Thank you again for your thoughtful comments. Im thinking of using it in a new build trim and ceilings. Now Im worried about yellow. Most windows face south (but not so sunny since I live in Washington state). I also have some white furniture pieces which are pottery barn off white. Is there another trim white you recommend?

I just looked and found it. It was Benj Moore - Simply White. Simply White is in the same tone family as White Dove but a lot less yellow undertones, a bit whiter looking but still a creamy white. If your space wood needs a different tone than try going opposite with Decorators White but that has much cooler tones - not what I was going for.

Go with your gut. Listen to it. When you do your sample boards and step back what is your 1st impression? Your wood in the house will play a big part but honestly Simply White is such a go to I think you'll love it.

I found that Simply White has a more yellow undertone than White Dove! Simply White definitely is a brighter white but I see yellow. White Dove lookers grater to me. Definitely calming.

Thanks Jill. I would love to hear others comments on alternative whites for trim. I saw white dove in an open house (new build) and it was so warm and calming with just the right amount of pop, but I want to do white kitchen and standard white cabinetry is a brighter white and Im afraid of the contrast. Any advice?

I'm having cabinets painted this week so I'll post a pic! Until they are finished, I'm hesitant to choose a backsplash for that reason. Not sure if the bright white will look good with it.

BM Timson Sand. I had a difficult time choosing paint for this room because I have a wall of windows that reflects light from a few pool. I tried blue greens and gray blues in the kitchen but all I got was playroom blue! That room just couldn't do blue. So, instead, I'm pretending my breakfast room is a sandy beach leading to the ocean. Haha!

Sounds like you found a solution. Please post pics when you are finished. I have similar issue...green tint from windows causing paint to look greenish.

I also can"t choose between ultra white and dove white for my cabinets.. My kitchen walls are VERY light gray. Too many decisions.
