We chose a charcoal grey porcelain over true slate for our kitchen because our neighbors told us that their slate floor in their mud room gets scratched easily. I was worried that I wouldn't like the porcelain as much but I love it! It is a rougher texture like slate so still has the warm look that slate has. Not sure if you are looking to go this dark but wanted to throw it out there. On another note, if I was a buyer, I would prefer wood floors in at least the living room areas. Could you maybe use a few area rugs or just refinish the wood floors and maybe tile just part of the main floor? You may not get as much back if selling if the new buyer is not into so much tile. I guess it depends on how soon you would even consider selling. If not for several years then do what works best for you now. Good luck!

Your floors are beautiful and I know you're right about the wood floor .I loved the look of limestone the one that is a little dark Like taupe and wonder about the slate if I should just take the black one or another kind like california gold . It is on the long run that i'm worried about.My house is classical. At the moment I have slate in my kitchen it has a lot of yellow like mustard and it's not my favorite.I could get rid of it easily .Are slate dated? Limestone or slate?
