Have you considered a quartzite? Like granite, quartzites are a natural stone, however, they typically are much harder and more durable then granite. A lot of our clients like the crisp, white coloring of quartzies and they love that they don't have to worry about staining, scratching, etc. Here is an example of Super White Quartzite.

Super White quartzite is what is pictured. I have found that it compares in price to a higher level granite. It does vary a lot in color as you can tell from the two pictures, so be sure to view a variety of slab lots before making your selection.
