Dining room

What a beautiful dining room and I love the idea of using your antiques in here. Plates are perfect in a dining area, too.

Would you want to prop the floral art up on the mantle and we can see it to make suggestions? How many pieces? Could they be layered some way?

Could you put the plates out to show us, too, along with the tray? It all sounds soooo nice! Not sure about the tray up so high....could it still be seen and appreciated up there, if I understood where you are thinking of putting it.

Can the tray go on the table or on the little serving table you have? Wondering if that smaller table could go under the window to the right of the door instead of being angled in the corner.

I'm not a pro but I think we may like a similar styles. On my mantle I have an antique mirror (leaning, not hung - more casual), some antique candleholders and some old books. On my walls, I have antique game boards, antique mirrors, hanging quilts, and an antique windows that are used as picture frames. I also have a few bowls of pinecones and a pinecone garland I made myself that is on the fireplace - try bringing the outdoors in. I really wanted my home to be filled with things that nobody else would have. Also, pillows on the dining room chairs would warm them up. You have the right idea with chairs and a table that aren't too matchy-matchy. Your floors are PERFECT for the farmhouse look. Also, you'll have to google around but I had a fancy chandelier and farmhoused it up a bit by buying little berry wreaths that sit on the base of the lights. Good luck! Have fun with your home!

-- What a charming dining room! To keep a strong colonial feel, hang a piece of art that reflects life in that era. You could pull a color out of the painting and paint the area above the fireplace that color - making a backdrop for the painting.

Your drop leaf table could be placed squared up under a window. Place a pair of small wingback chairs on either side of the fireplace.

I have these plates and there's some blue ones that my mom said I could get from her. There's a bunch of copper pots, pans, teapots, and pitchers she said she could give me too.
