Can you have the daybed on the left side of the room? I would have the desk at the window so you get natural light.

There are only two walls for the daybed and desk because it is at the bottom of the stairs (open with no door). So the other option would be to put the daybed in the middle of the wall where the desk is currently (although it can't go in the right corner because it juts past b-room door. I like the idea of natural light!

If these are the two walls, then this configuration is best. You could add a painting maybe on the large wall so that you bring in some color and some of your personality. Another option would be several framed photos or prints,,whatever you like. A ghost chair would probably work here so that it doesn't visually block the way into the room. You could add some fluffy cover on the chair. Here are some ideas
