Cottage Remodel and Small Addition

We bought this small cottage for a summer get-a-way. Don't have much space on the exterior to add to the house due to set backs and the distance from the cottage to the road. Want to keep it small, possibly add a second floor with a bunk room and bath. Also would like a three seasons room lakeside. Need to break up the look of the ranch with additional roof lines. Also need an entrance on the roadside. Would love for the final product to look like a costal house. Any ideas or photos would be greatly appreciated!

A great equation for a great architect! But you are on the right track. Changing the roof and elongating the windows will do wonders for your beach home, but you will want to pay particular attention to the foundation to make sure that loading it with a second floor doesn't create more problems then you are trying to fix.
