    That is a type of fiberglass sheeting. I have the same over my back patio except on a black iron frame. If the flashing is done correctly, it's perfect to allow light in while keeping the water out.

      can it stand the weight of the snow in the winter? Also, between iron frame and wood frame, which cost more for this project?

      I bought the roofing materials at Home Depot. It is clear, plastic corrugated sheeting.

      We offer polycarbonate sheets (very similar to, but better than fiberglass) in several tints on our website: http://www.postframeaccessories.com/polycarbonate.html. It is highly impact resistant and won't yellow overtime unlike fiberglass sheets which are similar but less expensive.

      I painted mine in brown. It came out well with a copper gutter
