New house with kitchen design issues

Me and my wife just bought and new home that was built in 1989.
The kitchen has off white lacquer cabinets with green granite. We would like to keep the cabinets and the granite but we are having a problem trying to figure out what color paint to use and what flooring to go with.We are also going to add all stainless steel appliances and handles to the cabinets. The floors right now are 6x6 white tile(very ugly).. I was thinking of removing the cabinets over the cooktop and putting a huge back splash with the stainless steel fan exposed. Please let me know what you guys think. Any ideas would help we are open to everything.
