did you take light layer plastic off? They are very hard to take off but we have these cabinets and what you described was exactly that layer

And once you took the layer off - never (!) use microfiber cloths on high gloss surfaces, they are going to scratch the surface!

reviving this old thread but hoping for some clarity... myownstyle13, microfiber will scratch high gloss surfaces? almost everything i've read online says to use a soft microfiber cloth to clean high gloss cabinets.

After I had so much difficulty with my high gloss white cabinets from Ikea, they ended up replacing those since those were under warranty. I think my cabinets were just defective. Since those were replaced a couple of years ago, I haven't had a problem. I put a little Windex-the one w/vinegar onto a soft microfiber cloth, and I very gently wipe the cabinets usually horizontally. They have looked beautiful since those were replaced. Lin

I tried Ikea. They won't tell you how to clean them.

i have yellowing around the edges of some of the drawers because the contractor did not remove the protective tape that they are shipped with. Does anyone know how to remove yellowing from ikea abstrakt high gloss white cabinets?

dr. bronners and a soft clean cloth are great, but i don't know about "yellowing". Ikea does have a 10 year warranty on that product.

I have drip marks on my high gloss cabinets which i cannot remove has anyone else had this?

Describe drip marks. Coffee? Tomato? What have you tried to clean it? Are they ikea?

No they arent Ikea. i have no idea what the drip marks are, they are a whitish colour. i can only assume it is something that has damaged the laquer on them. i have used warm soapy water, cleaning spray, wipes wipes, window cleaner nothing works.

About 8 years ago, I got Ikea glossy white cabinets, which were showing every mark, etc. I was so upset. Those especially looked bad when the sun shone into the kitchen. Fortunately, Ikea agreed to replace all the cabinets. Since replacement, the cabinets have been fine. I think there must have been a defect in the glossy finish or something. I have always cleaned by spraying a little Windex with vinegar onto a soft cloth and have gently wiped.

It is like something has splashed on to them that has disintegrated the gloss but i cant think what could possibly do that?

Hi - I am considering the Ringhult acrylic cabinets from IKEA. I am worried that they will be too reflective - I know that sounds funny. What I mean is that will ceiling lights (cans) reflect like bright spots on the cabinets? I've seen some pictures of this. Thanks!

Hi, I don't know that name, but I do have glossy white cabinet fronts from IKEA about 8 years old, and although those are nice, I would never get them again. It is very sunny in my home in the afternoon and early evening, and when the sun shines in, every single mark shows up on my cabinets, engineered bamboo floors and Caesarstone countertops. In the morning or on a cloudy day, everything looks great. Basically, I learned if I ever move, nothing will be glossy or shiny again. Hope that helps.

Thanks so much for getting back to me. I don't have a lot of sun but there is window over the sink between the cabinets. The island is across and will be walnut. Just the uppers will be white acrylic. I'm totally getting cold feet. Can anyone suggest an alternative? I want a modern look. Matte is too dull for me. This kitchen is more modern! Thanks!

Just for the record, I had the sun coming in facing my kitchen area thru floor to ceiling windows.

that helps. I have a very small kitchen. There is a window between the uppers that is north facing. And, I also have two eyebrow windows under the cabinets (also north facing). I would send a picture but it's gutted. It will only be the uppers that would be acrylic. the sunlight comes in from the east and west at the opposite ends of the house. It's a duplex and very long and narrow.
