Thanks William ~ yes, I was actually thinking that a "peaked" front would be nice, with a flat veranda at the front, and columns leading from peak to flat veranda. Also the meter reader will be moved to the side of the house, as well (this is a 100yr old home). With the foundation work having been done (not reflected in this pic) we got rid of the falling apart front cement step... and now have some simple wooden steps out front and nothing else. Last year, I bought beautiful black (charcoal colored) large planters and put in colorful blooms. The planters were spaced out about 4 feet each... and it looked nice but it wasn't the curb appeal I'm looking for. At the side of the house, we also have a small wooden deck, that I want to extend into a full patio type deck for BBQ'ing and eating, and then swing it around to the back with a pergola for rest and relaxation ~ it's very nice and private in that area. I'm also changing the fence and fixing the lane way. However it is the color of the house that I stumped with.... we're 3 beige homes in a row, all different style, in a historical part of Aylmer QC Canada, and I think being close to the beach and marina, etc... I should infuse some color, but I want to stick with the history, and keep in mind the beige of neighbors (so we don't stick out like a sore thumb ~ I'm okay with sticking out, just not with the thumb, lol) :-) I am thinking wider, wooden slats.... maybe a faux 4 or 6 foot stone wall.... I just can't get the inspiration I need....

progress.... siding done, parging done, most trim done, and now eaves troughs (never had that) - come spring, Im thinking for the front steps, it would be nice with typical wood steps leading straight down the feont but flanked by 2 large planters (colorful flowers/plants...) and the last step will come down and around the planters like its hugging those planters... At the side, keeping to the stone features (current patio that you see off the french doors and a new one that will be located directly behind the house) Im replacing the wood palette style step with a "created" stone... patios will be completely updated with patio stones to match and white pebble stone between...

Nice! I still think a little peak-roofed gable/porch over that entry would bring the front to life (in addition to plants, of course). Would also paint that electrical business the color of your siding...

thank you, thank you for the graphics added... we want that pitch on the front! Would make it comfortable and welcoming... the planters at each side of steps, I want a bit larger with the last step extending to appear to start hugging the base of the planters. They'll be done in the trim colors (mocha sand and white). Youre absolutely right with painting that hydro reader on the house... do you think I should go with the cypress green (siding color) or go with the wire box trim you see above it (in mocha sand color)?

sorry I just noticed in the graphics you coloured that wire box cover... - You are so right... we need to repaint that and then continue that color to cover the hydro box!! - thank you again... sorry I hadnt noticed that until I loomed again, lol
