New sectional/confined space

Hello. I recently purchased a sectional from Macys that hasn't arrived yet. I'm trying to determine how my setup will be in a confined space so I figured houzzers would know. It is a 5 piece sectional that is modular so every piece is separate. For now I'm thinking about taking 3 of the pieces (corner, armless, corner) and making it a sofa and taking the other two pieces (left facing chaise and armless) to make it the love seat. (The pic below shows a right facing chaise) I wanted to invest in a sectional since I needed new furniture knowing that for my current space it might not function as such. But in the future I will use it as a sectional and wanted furniture that could give me this flexibility. Just wanted to explain why I went with a sectional for this space.

My fireplace, the door to my balcony (next to fireplace), and tv location makes it a confined space. If you have any ideas for how I can position this room, please do share. The granite/grey is the sectional I purchased and the space with the torn up & terrible sofa & love seat is the area I'm trying to rearrange.

Sectional is way too large for that space. You could get a lot more bang for your $ with art, throws, and a different (nice) rug.... so sorry.

Well, whatever you do, don't put any piece against wall under stairs....maybe a long table or thin chest there....or picture arrangement. Make the fireplace the focus for the new sofa.

Thanks Collin for the feedback. I absolutely love my fireplace and definitely want to keep it the focal point but I'm not sure if my room is big enough or if the new furniture will fit without putting one of the pieces on that wall. I will definitely play with that idea though.

Invest in hanging the TV on the stairwell wall above a credenza and hiding the components in the under stairs closet if there is one. Put sectional on the wall where TV is now and then angle the chaise portion right of the FP. If you can cancel the order, invest in a flex sectional where the chaise portion can be reversed from left to right. Comes in apartment size and you'll have room for an accent chair and tables, which will probably be crowded out by the modular pieces you posted.

Sustainable Dwellings, thanks for the feedback. As I mentioned above, I know the space would not function well with a sectional because its a little confined, which is why I'm thinking of setting it up as a sofa and love seat. But, I know there are a lot of creative people on houzz that could possibly give me suggestions that I didn't necessarily think of. As far as the rug, I know it's pretty common and not for everyone's taste, but for my budget and the style I enjoy, I actually love it!! But thanks a lot for your thoughts :)

Loveseats are hard to arrange and two people can't really face each other for conversation on one of them. Most Houzzers will agree that a sofa and two chairs are your best bet.

Decoenthusiast gave you the perfect answer, and i will tell you why - the first step in furniture arranging is establishing the traffic pattern through the room, and then arranging seating. Placing the tv on the stairwell wall allows for a traffic lane in front of the tv while providing the perfect viewing angle from a sectional set up in front of the fireplace as suggested by decoenthusiast. As you enter this room, having the sectional facing you will expand the space while being very welcoming. You can buy a long cable extender and run it around the room easily for a few dollars.

I wouldn't hang the tv - i would keep it on a low bench in scale with your new sectional.

I think the low sectional is a great choice for this room.
