    Hi, the roofing material is western red cedar - wood shakes.

    Thank you for your comments. Cedar Shingle is a very traditional roofing material. The installation can be tricky however so it is very important to follow the recommendations of the Cedar Shake and Shingle Bureau or your architect and hire a really knowledgeable contractor like Bill Stratton Builders who did this roof.
    Shakes are bit thicker than shingles. The roofing on this house is shingle which is appropriate for a nineteenth century farmhouse.
