I have an old pie safe that I painted to use as a bookshelf for my cookbooks (corny but I like it) but the paint is sticky. My cookbooks stick to the paint and pull off bits of paint. I wanted to use paint because I want a solid color and not grain showing through. I used an interior, glossy paint for furniture... a friend suggested a polyurethane coat but right now, I'm reluctant to put the work into stripping the pie safe and redoing it until I know I've got a solution that will work. I also plan on painting two chairs and a small dining table with the same paint. Thank you in advance..
