The bottom rail and the balusters are smooth cedar which we finished with oil primer and paint and the top rails are Ipe wood. We made the newel posts out of 1x smooth cedar with Ipe wood caps. We field made the rails and posts ourselves, the balusters are standard 2x2 cedar.
