Final verdict?

I'm close to "okay-ing" this glass back splash and stone. Glass would be subway tile size only and fill the space under cabinets and window-sill. I think it would be a cool feature to have the stone on the empty wall running up to the top of the cabinet height. We're painting the walls Light Pewter Benjamin Moore (shown in left side of stone pic).

Should I go for it? This isn't our "forever home" so I'm hoping to make design choices that most people will like. Let me know what you think please!

You want to run the stone tile up that blank wall next to the window to the height of the cabinets? Not a good idea. Paint the wall and add a cool vintage clock.

I agree. Go with the backsplash under the cabinets but not all the way up that wall; paint is a better choice, especially since you know it's not your forever home and paint is less permanent.

Glass tile is fine, but I would stay away from the stone. It us just too much, and will be hard to clean. Also, just one more thing you will want to change in a few years.

I would paint the cabinet knobs oil rubbed bronze, or change out to black

Love the glass tile. I don't quite understand the stone. Are you going to put it on the whole sink wall? In addition to glass tile on the bottom? I wonder if it's just too many finishes.

I see where you're trying to go with the stone...it's the symmetry of the window that's is making you want to put something to the rt of it, correct? May a few stainless floating shelves would look better? Something to put pretty dishes on. The stone is pretty but I think it will look like a column or monolith with just that large vertical strip of it.

Why not run the tile up the wall where you are thinking of putting the stone? Love the stone, but it's too many finishes.

It will look like an afterthought and unfinished. There will be no clean edge to contain the tile and help it make sense. Such an odd look--it would absolutely turn me away if I were looking to buy one day. Your kitchen looks fantastic! Use paint and don't do something super custom and odd.

The wall between the window and door does need something to balance the two. I like the suggestion of the clock and some floating shelves. Something simple, not too busy.

I would eliminate the stone and use the glass tile up to the bottom of the cabinets, and maintain that height across the window all the way to the right edge of the countertop -- but that's just me. Like others mentioned -- fill the blank space next to the door with art or a clock or shelving

Are you sure you want to go at that rough stone with a brush and a bucket of soapy water every week? Being in the kitchen it is going to get greasy and then dust will stick to it. Make life simpler for yourself and go with smooth easy to clean surfaces.
Also make this kitchen into something that you like. Afterall you're the one living there now!

I would agree with the others and not do the stone. Your counter top has alot of movement in it so i would keep the back splash simple and just go with the glass tile. That stone wall wouldnt look right to me. You could always find something to put there.

I assume you are getting rid of that matching counter top piece on the back splash correct?

Something else to consider will be how transparent that glass tile is. Hard to tell from the pictures but ask your installer if the thinset will show through the glass. They may be using mastic but i would think the question would still apply.
