Kitchen hardware

My home is a 25 yr. old colonial. Oak everywhere! We want to update the kitchen - not totally redo. We did granite countertops, great backsplash, dim able under cabinet lighting. Cabinets are oak and we restrained the island expresso from Home Depot. Question: can we have one color hardware on the cabinets and another on the island?

Thanks - I have to order the hardware so have to make my decision up front . . . I want to go with matte black on the white cabintry but am concerned that it won't look as good on the dark island, so was thinking of a rubbed bronze for the island (same styles as the cabinets).

This is my question too! Can I have a different colour of hardware on my white cabinetry than my dark island? I think I would keep the styles the same just different finishes.

Can you buy one of each and see how they look at home? If you're buying locally, that's what I'd do. You may fine you love the look or decide to go with matching.

I'd still buy one in each color, maybe something similar, locally that can be returned. Hold them up and see if you like the colors. Or, go to a store locally and look at what they've used on similar cabinets. You'll probably be living with these a long time so make sure you like the choices first. Jmo. :).
