When I bought my 1920s house, I quickly had to take care of the kitchen problem. The house had been foreclosed upon and most of the appliances (and countertops!) had been stolen. I did not have a lot of of money at the time, so I went with Ikea cabinets, a sale on countertops, and an online tile purchase. I still need to figure out what to do with the floors and am still considering whether to paint the wall a different color (as there is a lot of yellow going on overall).
