If you don't put a hot pan on laminate, it should last for years. My last countertop was laminate, and lasted 17 years. The only reason we replaced it was because we had some floor damage and had to take up two layers of old flooring so we had to take the lower cabinets out. My husband couldn't get the countertop up without cutting it so it had to be replaced. And it's replacement is also laminate as we live in an old neighborhood in an older home, and want to put our renovation budget into hardwood floors rather than granite or quartz.
