Tree logs?

How did you acquire the logs and did you have to do any kind of special treatment to them for preserving them?

    The logs were aspens felled during the construction off the jobsite, we had to clear the site for the pool. We reused them as a screen and didn't apply anything to treat them. They are secured both top and bottom with metal rods that are bored into the center of the logs.
