Round would be great for the kids and to really update your look consider clean and modern.

I was thinking something a little more modern as I've veered off into a country theme. I have a lot of distressed grayish pieces already. Also considering ditching the sectional. My husband has thrown all the back pillows in the trash! It is a Kreiss!

I agree with either round or square shape. I think that would look best with the shape of your sofa. The nice things about round is no sharp corners that a child could fall on...

Glass isn't kid friendly, but your current table has some appeal. Sell it at a garage sale. I think in the right home (maybe with the base painted dark-color) it would be interesting.
