We are getting ready to submit our final plans for board approval (required where we are building). We have to have exterior details finalized in 48 hours. We based our designs off of the Newton Bungalow that is so popular on Houzz.

Our budget is tight, so we are trying to work with James Hardie Color Plus siding, rather than custom painting. We originally selected the Light Mist siding/shake, Arctic White trim, black windows, walnut stained door, charcoal roof, and gray cobble/laytite stone blend. However, now that we've made some progress on interior finishes, my husband and I are both very worried that the exterior of the house will feel too cold and/or modern, while the interior will be more off-white/warm/traditional. For example, the kitchen is Cambria Windermere countertops, Mid-Continent antique white painted exterior cabinetry in a shaker style, and Mid-Continent Fireside island.

We are now considering changing the exterior to Hardie Monterey Taupe, trying to fit a custom trim of Benjamin Moore Linen White (or other off-white like White Dove) into the budget, driftwood roof. Would still probably pick a mostly gray with some browns cobblestone, and no idea whether this would look good with black windows. We really wanted the windows to pop like they do in the Newton Bungalow, but.... We could pick one of the other Jeld-Win colors?

I feel like I am having a nervous breakdown. :)

Other info that might be helpful: The house to the right of ours is Hardie moss (or the other light green color) with Arctic White trim, the house to the left is Hardie Boothbay blue/Sage mix with Cobblestone trim. So we're dealing with a green on one side and green/blue on the other. Most of the other homes in the neighborhood are custom, so we're very self-conscious and would like to make ours have as much curb-appeal as theirs, if possible. And we're in Northern Indiana, in case that makes a difference. :)
