I installed an identical light in a similarly small area, and also felt it was too large. Perhaps it is, or perhaps it's the result of changing from a flush-mounted fixture. The glass globe is above your door trim and leaves plenty of room for tall people, so even if it seems too large, I agree with others that it isn't. You'll get used to it and love the character it adds to your hallway after you've lived with it awhile. And there's no doubt that it's a classic improvement over what you had. Nice job!
