I love it. I would consider painting the door a different color. That white just jumps out at you. Maybe a soft beige that picks up the color of the back splash and a little deeper tone than the wall color.

Speaking of the door, where does it lead? Is it necessay to keep the door?

Looks great. You could always get a rolling "island" and tuck it away next to the cabinets. Then you would have it when you need it and hide it when you don't. I don't have much more counter space than you do and I get lots of cooking done, often.

I have a very pale yellow kitchen and rather than stark white for the doors and trim, I chose the next best thing. . . like the palest ivory. I've got a deep red dining room and use the same color trim in all the rooms for continuity. . . Also, a very pale ivory is more complimentary to the beautiful dark cabinets. :)

First of all a kitchen has to be practical, before pleasing to the eyes, so I assume that if they decided to re-done it, there must have been a reason why, perhaps the old kitchen wasn't meeting any longer the family needs. Also taste changes over the years and new technology provide us with better and more functional solutions. So bye bye old more personal kitchen and welcome new slick and modern kitchen. It has, perhaps, lost in personality (the combination of wall paper and kitchen color were certainly unique to their taste and not everybody cup of tea) but now it's less busy and has a touch of more agreeable subtle elegance.

What a fantastic transformation of former kitchen with fresh, vibrant & dynamic place. Only one question, have you read any professional assistance, advice or tips or have you done it your own way? In any case, great job, guys!!

Nancy Bartell - I kept the door frames white because i have awhite framed patio door on the other side of the kitchen which I couldn't paint.

Debra Utt-Johnson - the pocket doors lead to my dining room and foyer/living room. I closed them for the photos but don't anticipate ever needing to close them. Years ago I did close them when my children took piano lessons in the living room and I was preparing dinner. Perhaps now when I'm sneaking a midnight snack? :)

Stephany Jones Noel - kitchen was gutted and replaced. Cabinets are cherry wood not painted.

What are the dimensions of you kitchen? It looks very similar to my kitchen. I need to move my refridg to where you have moved yours. Very good job.

4step - the run of cabinets on the sink side is a few inches more than 10', the stove side about 10'. The width is about 8 - 9'.

Very nice kitchen. I have a question for everyone, I hear and see that wallpaper is making a come-back. Do you miss wallpaper and the personality that it allowed you to have? I like how wallpaper can brighten a room and the papers they have now don't yellow and stay fresh for a very long time. I would love to wallpaper at least one room, with one wall being done. So, is it really making a come-back? Thoughts??

As soon as you finish your wallpapering and settle in, it won't be that long (a couple of years or so) and you will want to do some redecorating again. Then the wallpaper will be all wrong. And I don't care how much they tell you that it comes off easily, it doesn't!!! I am done with wallpaper, no matter who or how many say that it is in. Look what is happening with "oh, you must have granite counter tops"! I never liked them and thought they were highly over rated. Now, they are going by the wayside. LOL A long answer to your question. Sorry.
