i think that the blue is very nice! I would move everything off of the mantel except for the mirror and white items, and start over with lighter colored items such as white, cream, and/or yellow. Here are a few ideas for you:

I can see why it bothers you, it would bother me as well, and blue is my favorite color. With all of the accessories and colors and patterns in your pillows, the blue just adds to the frenetic feel. Paint all of the walls the same frappe for a more soothing and serene room.

I too would paint it the same colour as the other walls.

Such a pretty space. I'd take all the small decorative stuff out of the room and then look at it carefully. I think I'd probably repaint it the same color as the other walls. The accent closes in the room. Then I'd very carefully add the decorative items back one by one.

I too would paint the same colour. If you still want an accent wall then another option would be to have a wallpaper with base color as the other walls with some accents of the blue you want.

I'd keep the accent wall, but change the color. Paint the entertainment center a lighter color (feels really dark), then clean off above the mantle and add a big fun bright art piece that makes you smile. The room has a lot going on and not having clean surfaces adds to the anxiety feeling.

The blue is a great idea, but the tone is not quite right in there. Going with a deeper navy/charcoal like Benjamin Moore Gravel Gray would make it very cozy.

There is just to much "interruption" on this wall so it looks busy rather than make a statement. Clear out all decor items from television cabinet, mantel (except mirror) and tables, remove all your throw pillows. Stand back and reassess. You have enough accent interest in the carpet and chair. I think you will find a less is more approach will simplify, relax and modernize the space.

I would repaint the same color as rest of room. I find your room a little busy, with lots of stuff in there. Take down the pic over the door, the wreath over the door, the decoration over the window and all the small stuff on mantle and shelves. You have a lovely room but too much 'stuff' in it. As suggested, remove pillows too and stand back and add items.

Thank you all so much for your help. Lots to, think about here. I am attaching a picture of the rug in the room to,give you a better idea of colors that is am working around. This rug i have had for many years. Was purchased overseas. I am leaning toward going back to,the same color,of,the remaining walls. I would REALLy love built ins on each side of the fireplace, but can't do that at the moment. What do you think of the shutters on each side of,the window wall? The wall just looked so blah to me without some color. Guess u can tell I like color.

The wall of windows is the focal point. No shutters, no picture. Color is nice, busy is busy. Go for symmetry on either side of the fireplace to give a built in feel.
