I paint my closets white so that I only have to paint them once. Closets are so labor-intensive to paint!

The most popular finish in the Midwest for trim is to have it painted white. Most people do not paint their rooms white so the trim acts as an accent.

So when clients want to do laminate closet organizers, I recommend they select white and paint the closet walls a color to match or complement the room. The organizer then appears more built in and complementary. White goes with most everything, and it is less expensive to change the paint color down the road than to replace a closet system.

If someone has stained woodwork, I generally recommend ivory or almond for closet systems. Any of these three have the least tonal cast towards the clothes that are stored in the closet.

Generally, the most bland closets are painted white with white trim and have white organizers. So many people invest in the latest style color for their closet system that dates exactly when it was done, and install it in a painted white closet.
