This is before

This was a kitchen remodeling project... Two walls one of which is bearing carrying the second floor was removed to open up the kitchen. The joist on the second floor had to be notched and suspended from an 18' beam which was inserted to carry the second floor load. It was a big job, a new footing and a lolly column had to be added in the crawl space bellow to carry the second floor.
After everything was done, it was another quality job and and most importantly another satisfied customer :-)

This is my personal residence and should be completed in another 2-3 yrs.

A couple more....

Before and after of the whole house is a long story, Here is a quick before and after of this Spring's project- a work obviously in progress. Issues being addressed- more BTU's, adequate ventilation, improved cabinets and better flow. The bird's eye view is to show the change in the right side bottle-neck from 22 inches wide to 28 inches. Still to do, drawers for the cabinets on either side of the range, countertops, wall tiles, floor refinish. We have only been w/o a kitchen sink and dishwasher for 3 days and are really looking forward to having use of those amenities again.

Ours too is a work in progress. I started on July 4th and rebuilt everything under the rafters due to crawlspace and rot issues. 100% DIY, about 1,400 square feet between the family room, kitchen, entry hall and formal living room. Apologies for the mess, I finished putting the flooring in today and haven't put the tools up yet. The end is close; next week the floors get sanded and finished, cabinets go in the following week and then we have a halfway useable kitchen. Previous owners wanted something victorian but the house is a 1959 MCM/ranch.

A couple more... For some reason the family room ceiling was dropped to 8'. I'll never understand why.

I used to say that I was always the bridesmaid never the bride when it came to renovations. Making other people's homes more functional and beautiful is my job but it was years before I could do something in my own kitchen! Here are my before and afters.

The house I grew up was 816 sq ft and after I bought my sister/brother after my parents passed, I gutted/added on to make it 2204 sq ft . This was back in 1992 and know I'm remodeling/refreshing up the interior.

Everything in our house was original to the late 80s. We have redone just about everything. Most of it was DIY such as painting, changing light fixtures etc. The kitchen was another story. We closed on the house on a Friday. My contractor came and gutted the kitchen the flowing Monday. Hated the before, love the after. Here are pics of the kitchen and the main bathroom. Bathroom was DIY.

More, basement redo. All DIY except the tiled floor. White washed the brick fireplace, painted, changed the ugly doors and light fixtures.

OK, we're not quite at the finish line just yet. What can I say; its a work in progress...and probably will be for a while yet. The Before shot shows the church interior (yes, those are pink walls), which had to be gutted due to poor insulation and wiring. When its done we will have a bright sunny kitchen in that same area. The beams were previously old bridge planks we bought from a farmer who had salvaged them.
I'm really looking forward to finishing this church conversion as I already have my next reno project waiting ...an old Jail. Wish me luck.

Here's our kitchen down to studs remodel...from 80's dark and cramped to demo to bright modern kitchen twice the size.

Pictures angles aren't great because it's not quite finished yet. Complete gut job but kept the layout almost the same. Instead if wall ovens, we have a pantry cabinet, and added a range where the stovetop was.

The biggest project was to create a 9 ft ceiling , instal skylights and remove few walls

Here is our shower remodel we DIY'ers did a few years ago...turned out beautiful!

We made what my grandson calls 'the castle' in the backyard.
