Thanks for the question. The actual window was existing, we did not change that out. The privacy feature is actually a film applied to the glass on the bottom sash, manufactured by Smart Tint. It is hooked up to a switch, like a light switch, and you turn it on and off as needed.

On windows like the one you have pictured we often apply a frost or opaque film from www.solyxfilms.com to give privacy on the lower panes. The switchable films are neat and getting better all of the time but are much more expensive.
