What??? Don't use such a beautiful stove???? Where's the joy in that??? Sorry, I'm new to this home decor stuff... And imagine my shock to discover an ornamental stove!

Wolf is one of the BEST manuf. out there - and this stovetop never needs repair, and is certainly NOT ornamental!!!

I've been cooking on Wolf and Viking for over 20 years ... you think I'm so wrong? Wolf is consistently dinged for poor reliability and high cost of repair relative to other "pro-style" cooktops and ranges. And what makes them one of the "BEST manuf. [sic] out there"? By what metric?

And if they are "certainly NOT ornamental", explain to me why they are featured so heavily in architectural magazines and design shows where the function of the stove (i.e. in a display) is *exclusively* for appearance ... no one is using it to cook when reading the magazine or attending the show. If anything, Wolf brand products are used for ornamental purposes (magazines and architecture shows) *more* than any other brand!

For example: Are the red knobs somehow more functional than normal black knobs? I would suggest not; they are by definition "ornamental". I enameled mine metal-flake blue ... still work the same as a red knob or a black knob.

Glad you like your Wolf. But don't tout the brand as reliable or good value when there is ample anecdotal and quantitative evidence, respectively, to the contrary widely available to anyone who chooses to look.

15-20% of pro-style ovens and rangetops need service or repair within one year of install. That's normal. More features, more likely to need service or repair. After warranty expires, those costs are incurred by the owner, and they are higher for Wolf, Viking, Thermador, etc than other brands.

I suspect that the above comments are from people who don't use this particular model ... the grill insert is a quirky and frustrating feature that would never replace a real outdoor grill; it is best for grilling veggies in the winter if you live somewhere cold (like I do). Meat or fish can be a mess. If you live down South or in California, I would suggest the 6-burner version.

Wow! You are really upset about this. I am sure in your experience, you are correct. In mine (being an Architectural and Interior Designer) I have put in many Wolf products in many homes, and my clients have never had a problem. Maybe I am just lucky!

I consider that heavy cooking inside the house is by any means inconvenient! I have Kitchen Aid appliances very beautiful very ornamental but I if I want to grill or fry I would rather do it outside. You might cook some simple things, like risotto, pasta, etc. or any food that is quick to fix, use the oven to bake. I say this with certain experience long enough to know that first of all
over time, when you want to grill or fry a steak, chicken, fish the odor gets impregnated in all of the furniture, curtains, even glass picks up that filmy look, and you would have to clean everything right away. I do have an industrial hood very powerful but still you can smell in the house whatever you are cooking and soon enough it leaves a film on everything.
I prefer to cook outside because it is much easier. Probably all those pictures you see on Houzz especially the kitchen to keep it that way is a lot of work! Believe me I know because I am the one the who always cleans! I do enjoy having a beautiful home though!

OMG. I have a Thermador 48" with a hood as well, 13 years now and have never needed a repair. However, we are considering on a new construction with new appliances and Wolf was going to be our choice, but after all these talk, I better stick with what I know.
