I am not sure of your goals, but if you are going for a more updated look, accent walls are sort of "out" except maybe in bedrooms or massive commercial spaces.

I would paint the wall the color of the rest of your room.

You could also consider painting the fireplace door to match the surrounding marble. Rustoleum high heat spray paint.

You might consider placing the 2 vases a little off-center (to the left). Personal choice. Shopping your own house is the best!!

The four vases you have that are all matching: do you have 2 more?

Try placing them on the "stair steps" of the tv console. Try just the 4, if you don't have 6 and we can go from there.

I think I like it too and I agree with the plate on the fireplace. Now on to the coffee table and painting my sticks, lowering the painting and taking down that ugly thing I put up on the fireplace wall !

I have attached a photo of the upper part of the fireplace.

I really like only the bowl on the coffee table. It's easy and simple.

And the sticks are last....when everything else is done !

If you thought little hands would leave them alone, colored glass balls would be fun in the coffee table bowl. BUT I do agree that the table looks great with just the bowl.

One thing that jumped out at me earlier is the great vase to the left of the tv cabinet...on the floor there. LOVE that!

Thanks Abbyjean. The both the tall vase and the urn we brought back from Scottsdale the first time we drove down. My parents had a condo there for years until we had to see it cause they could no longer travel. It was a 36 hour drive from home to there and we did it many times. I used to like driving only because it allowed us to bring home loads of nice things we can't get where we live!

I can't say for sure about the vases, until you lower the art over the tv. I would say for now the outer 2 steps looks better

I think the tall vase switch would be too visually skimpy in that corner.

The art over fireplace is coming down as soon as I can get hubby to help me lug in 15 foot ladder. The art over unit will be moved tomorrow...I promise! The tall thin vase I will put back upstairs where it was. Tomorrow going to give my DIL all the fabric so she can start my pillows. She has a gadget that makes binding really fast and easy. Then I will paint my sticks and I'm done! I think......

I very much like the sculpture over the fireplace. It has color and is simplistic with the two vases. It's a unique item. I like it.

At first appears a bit small, but I think that is what I'm liking.... it's the balance of negative space that I particularly like that also leaves room to see the molding details on that wall.

Sure you can post a poll, but I think most will say that it might be too small. I think that will be the majority because we are all conditioned on Houzz to work with a scale that is more popular and expected.

I'm a bit different sometimes. I see negative space as part of the whole as one would in any artwork. It is equally important.

I don't know if it will help you make a decision. It will be ultimately the way that you see it that counts most.

Yes. A smaller one, a large one and above that another smaller one.

That's what I thought. To me, you either have to put something in each "frame" or only decorate the bottom. When you decorate the bottom 2 only, they eye has any expectation that there be something on the top one.

I'm definitely going to take it down.

Since learning there are 3 spaces above the fireplace, I think I would use 2 coordinate pieces in the upper two.

LB i really prefer to take down what I have have there and leave it empty. I'm trying to simplify and unclutter my space as much as possible.

That's okay for sure. My feeling for myself, is that it would seem too too empty. Personal preference.

An option, as much as I like the two vases on the mantle, I think for simplicity, I would like a very tall vase with some airy tall elements that move almost half way up into the second section. Then, maybe nothing else on the mantle. I would dramatize that area with big simplicity.

Finally! Here are photos of the lowered art over entertainment u it with the vases and the fireplace without the art thingy! Hopefully I will get to the branch painting today. If not tomorrow and pillows are still coming!

Vases on fp mantle should be just a touch father apart and just facing forward, not angled. My humble opinion.

I normally do not like art over a tv, and think I even mentioned once to move it, but ya know what? It looks sooo nice here now. You have such a beautiful HOME!!!

Thank you... I saw a picture posted on Houzz with a painting over this type a unit and I really lived it. BTW...Sticks are painted and I will be arranging today. Will post soon. Then I just have to wait for pillows and I can post finished photo! Yeah!

Yes I am and it feels good. I will be taking a short hiatus as I need to concentrate on my daughter in laws baby shower which will take place here at the house in a couple of weeks. But, I will post photos when I get my pillows. I really want to thank you all for working with me on this project. It is truly appreciated.
