My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.

Ok So...We are finally building our first dream home!
We started this project bout 1 1/2 year ago. We had a very clear idea of the house's design. We found a great designer that put all together in a blue print plans...and since last February we started our fabulous adventure.
Did I mention we are doing it ourselves, yes that meaning we do our self contracting. I am a home stay mom, and my husband is a periodontists. We live in the Hill Country and have three little girls.
So wish us luck!

    Good luck to you! Will you be providing pics as progress is being made? And how brave of you to be your own contractor. Make sure you check your sub-contractor's credentials well.

      That's alright. My wife and I have been our own GC's for three houses we've lived in over the past 25 years and amazingly, we're still married!

      Is that foam spray-in insulation or the foam block? Either way you will see a great savings with your energy bill.

      It is foam spray.
      We did not cut any trees in the property and placed the house in a way that the sun and .the southern breeze would not disturb but feel nice on the hot Texas Summer

      the back porch view is really nice, as well as the kitchen window. there is also the one side of the house picture. some of the rock arrived this week. that is very exiting! Electricians, plumbers, and AC people are working today too.

      So well... Not so well today... Stucco is going on today and the framing from all the doors is or wasn't done properly so stucco around the doors has to be removed! And of course no one is happy + more work+more money+more time=delay,fall behind, off schedule.
      But there isn't perfect right?, so we deal with it and fix it the best we can while is fixable...

      And this house is coming together lil' by lil'. We found some inconveniences on the road but nothing that couldn't be fix or change... We are also learning in the process. The house is now being painted inside...with a "Polar White" the white paint I picked first was an eye sore!!! It came out as a glowing green!! Once it was in the wall.

      Me too!! W are hopping to be there by November. Me and my husband started this project ourselves against all predictions of not having ever built anything and so far we had being bless with great workers from all fields and also good advice. We are still trying to figure out if we want a big wooden door or a big metal one. and what kind of Fountain i want in the patio, there are so many options!! Any way....you'll see soon
