Looking for backsplash for kitchen with a countertop in the color Santa Cecilia. Cabinets are going to be white. I'm trying to make the kitchen more contemporary looking. Floor is ceramic tile in a beige with gray veins throughout.

You've done a wonderful job Bess. I'm going to miss our daily get-togethers. Too bad we all live in different states. Perhaps we can all meet up one day if we happen to coincide our visits!

Bess, are you in Fla or Ariz? I can't remember !

Thanks Beth! I know it was fun, I live in Florida. It was with your help it turned out so well. Thank you again!

So sweet. We are spread out but a great "thread" that connects us! I will be watching for notifications that you are back sharing your great space.

bess I hope you don't mind that I posted your kitchen photos on another poster's thread. she got her cabs painted the same white as you and has similar granite. she was concerned that it was too white. I showed her how nice yours looks w/all of your decor.

No worries, btw have you finished your tile yet? I would love to see pics when you do.

omg, no! was supposed to have the shower mudded (prep for the tile) last week, and tiling started this week, but it's been raining non-stop here. Waiting for a sunny day. I promise I'll do a whole photo spread.

What a shame, yes please do a photo spread I would love to see it.

Hi Flo, I'm getting ready to order the Flokati shag rug in white. I know you said an 8x10. I am leaving the two chairs by the sliding door, so can I go with a 6x9 size in front the couch? The couch is 90 inches long and should I get a pad to go under it? Thanks as always.

    Flo......Help!!

Beth I hate the pic in my dining room, help me gal.

Peter Lik photography! I have a couple of his pics. perfect spot you have for one!

ok,,reality. u want a canvas? I would do more black and white and for go the red.

No, it doesn't have to be a canvas. I'll look him up, thank you!

I was thinking maybe some type of art piece in metal? As usual, I don't know what I want but the pic I have up doesn't look good. Btw, I got a taller plant for the corner just waiting for the pot to be delivered. I do listen to you girl, lol.

I like the idea of being monochromatic in your room while speaking to calm presence at dinner! Here is one that is "layered" and has nice dimension to it that might appeal to you.

It is more white on white in person, but very interesting. Every time you look at it you see something a bit different. Nice size too. I have another one that is more dramatic you might like.

This has some nice height to it. If you like either of these I can do a mock-up in your room for you. Just let me know. I will have some time tomorrow.

Flo, I miss you gals! Thank you, the pic I have up now is 36"x36" and I think it looks too small. Ceiling height about 18', the buffet base is 50" with a glass top of 59". The first one I think is too small, is the second too big for the buffett?

The abstract is 42 wide which would leave about 8" each side which would be fine and I picked it because of the colors, dimension and HEIGHT IT is 60" high. With your ceilings that would be great. Drawing the eye up is very good Feng Shui too! My only concern would be that it might overpower the dining table. I will do a mock-up tomorrow and see what we think. Signing off for tonight. Oh, wait, I have another one. We used this one in another posters room and it is really nice. Let me see if I can find it.

I don't know if you can get this in a larger size, but it is "luminous".

Several different ones from Cora Nielis - might be a bit too commercial, but I love flowers and I love the "feel" of it. Beauty of nature. OK, I am done now. lol

Thank you so much Flo, this last one I think is too commercial like you said. Just so you know the table is 41-3/4 by 75". Thank you again!

Yes, I think you are right. I'll keep looking now that I know you want to find something new for that spot. I have a couple of ideas. But time to call it a day!

Good morning Flo, just to let you know I made a mistake about the height of the ceiling it's 15' tall where that picture is. The middle of my living room is taller. Flo I trust your input, so forget what I say and please tell me what type of wall decor you would do. I do like the second one. Thank you!

No problems for sure! Let me look around for you some more. I think with the amount of silver you have with the white and glass, we need to be careful to get just the right thing. Artwork is very personal, so don't feel bad at all if we suggest something and it doesn't strike you right! That is not a problem. Art has to evoke a great personal feeling so that is why it is so hard to select. I'll be back later. I am juggling many balls right now!

    Flo, thank you so much!

flo, can she do anything on the other wall? it just seems so lonely. or is that a dining room no-no? I like the gold and black canvas u posted

Bess, this is my Lik. my fave cause I love leopards. (this was staging photo for the desk I painted and was listing for sale.)

Flo and Beth, here's a mock of that pic. I don't like it. Any other ideas are appreciated. Thank you both!

Beth I love leopards also. That's a unique desk!

Your walls look gold against white. Yea, I don't like it either. Will keep looking. I think on the other wall we could do a silver metal sculpture for completing this corner.

thx. it was a Campaign desk. popular in the 60's/70's. I replaced the laminate top w/oak that I cerused with gray/white.

the colors I had in mine were like this mosaic (this will someday, in my next life more likely, be my bathroom!)

I was going to try and replicate this for my niche! (smaller of course)

but a canvas with something just like this, painted of course, would look cool

look at Oliver Gal. she has some modern canvas art

Flo it is a soft gold color paint. I found this metal sculpture, but I really want to concentrate on the picture. What do you think of this for the other wall? Keep in mind the other wall is the same wall as my living pics are on.

Beth you are too funny, you will end up in that type of bathtub someday. It is gorgeous! Your talented with a brush I bet you could make a replica of that. I'm looking at the site right now. Thank you!

Why do you need a backsplash?!?

Jbtanyderi, I already finished my kitchen.

    LMAO. jbtanyderi,,,late to the party!

Flo/Bess, this mirror to big? i'm guessing yeah, but my other one is too small

Beth I think it is too big. I love love your floor!

Yea too big but I love the idea of a mirror there. I have the same look, only ours in French Country and mirrors are just about 2" shorter on each side but about that high, but have a shell arched type top. Very pretty though. Is that wall black? Stunning with your woods!

bbbm27 - I like that sculptural piece, but I would get the art first because that will drive the other choices somewhat. I found a few more pieces of art.

Did you see the price! Wow! You could make some of these. I think if I were you, I would get a large canvas, the size you want and try some white on white acrylics with touches of the red or black and silver. You might get something interesting. I did one this way, and the while it is still wet, you spray it with water (making sure you have good heavy drop cloth to catch paint and water) and let is drip down and create all kinds of interesting looks. Might be fun to play around and see what you can come up with.

    thx guys.

yes, it's 'Beluga' from Behr. has a slight purple undertone. I love black walls with rich woods! I'll look for a smaller mirror or something there.

good idea about making your own canvas. go on Pinterest and search 'paint your own abstract' or some similar terms. It's pretty basic. HobbyLobby has great deals on canvas'. (don't forget the 40% coupon)

    Glad I can help

Yes you have helped, I can see in the pic I need to get a different centerpiece. I have been trying to use what I had, but when you change the furniture nothing old seems to work. Thank you!

Beth, that's a horse......I would love to find something like that but not a horse. Haha!

oh lol. i just now made out the horse head! thought it was an abstract!

Flo, your right I need the artwork before I worry about the vases.
