Hi, Michele,
You are right -- there are many options to make a monolithic shower, but, other than the acrylic kits, most are relatively new to market. So, that comes with some downsides -- expensive, not readily available, and maybe little choice of qualified labor to install. That being said, here are a few other options:
LARGE FORMAT THIN TILE: Thin tile is a product coming out of Italy primarily -- they have spent tons of money in R&D to create a thin, lightweight large format porcelain panel. Florida Tile is one US company that has started carrying the product. They call their product "Thinner", and it comes in sizes up to 3'-0" x 9'-0" (1m x 3m). Colors are limited to neutrals (gray and beige). It's also very thin -- 3mm -- and can be installed over existing tile, provided that the surface is solid.

DEKTON: A composite material that is made by Cosentino -- made of glass, porcelain and quartz. Learn more here: What is Dekton?
KOHLER: Kohler has a more designer and high-end acrylic panel system called "Choreograph" which looks promising. It's probably more readily available since it's a Kohler product. You can most likely purchase at a local plumbing supply house. Kohler Choreograph
SWANSTONE: Swanstone makes tub and shower surrounds out of a solid surface material (some people know by the trade name "Corian") that are also a more high-end look. Swanstone Tub & Shower surrounds
GLASSOS: If you are looking for bright, pure white walls, Glassos may be something to consider. It's a crystallized glass product that is worked and cut similar to stone. Glassos
Hope this information gets your creative juices flowing! Good luck with your project!
Best, Amy
