"I would describe myself as an ambitious designer as I always seek to do more than I could to
push myself to my limits. I would come up with the most absurd ideas without second guessing
it because I strongly believe in thinking out of the box. It may not necessarily work but it
expands your horizon as it can allow you to see more options and ideas.
What inspired me to become a designer was because my childhood dream was to design
houses for the underprivileged. When I had lived in the Philippines when I was younger, people had very low standard of living and I saw the living conditions that they lived in. Which was unsanitary and unhygienic. On account of this ordeal that the underprivileged Filipino population was facing, I decided to become a designer for the betterment of the society to build homes where they have their basic necessities and to improve their standard of living. Therefore, my designs tend to lean to a more contemporary style as well as minimalism as it is visually sleek and clean which is what I feel that the need in a space because less is more.
One of my favourite designer would be Peter Zumthor as he creates stunning spaces that
compliments its surroundings. He believes that nature is beautiful and should not be overshadowed but instead complimented to make it even more beautiful. He also heavily uses
natural materials, which I adore. Another one of my favourites is Shigaru ban, who uses his
talents to help those in need. My favourite work of his would be the temporary shelter system for victims of the Japanese floods."
