" About Me:
My name is KHOU SIV MEY, I am taking a Bachelor degree in interior design at raffles College of Higher Education in Singapore. I believe that design comes in many forms, and creativity plays a crucial role in the industry, especially in this millennial. The main achievement of design is not just aesthetic but also give comfortability, functionality and sustainable purposes to spread the positive influences and keep up a balanced lifestyle.
Design Style:
As a young designer, I want to showcase my identity and branding in an image of modern and sustainable design for both commercial and residential. There are a lot of reasons why I have selected the style, for instance, global warming is becoming significant and vital for the human being so with a sustainable design it helps to reduces the energy usage, water efficient, recyclable materials and lower the carbon emission in the atmosphere. Not only sustainable saves the environment, but it also allows people to make an adjustment in their lifestyle as well as improving their health condition.
Inspiration:
I am inspired by Professor Jason Pomeroy who is an English sustainable urban architect where he injects sustainable methods from using alternative energy supply, reduce carbon gas to recycle rainwater in most of his projects across Asian Pacific. He is a good role model for young designers to practice the theme of green design to improve the living condition and save the environment.
Nevertheless, I am passionate and motivated by my surroundings environment in Singapore where design is inventing something new and consists of many components such as materials and colours. I believe that interior design is to give life and breathing to space where people can feel safe, enjoyable, and healthy. As a future interior designer, I hope to contribute to the society in Cambodia with this essential aspect of creative art because only a minority of the population practice and acknowledge the green deign and does not realise the environment is heading towards evanesced. "
