Would this be better in the mud room instead of the open bench style? Does anyone really sit? Maybe to put shoes on.

I like the dark cabinets (maybe go a shade or two darker than the rest of the house?) and the white shiplap, and contrasting wood. I also like the doors instead of open which will look messy.
