Color Theory

Split Complementary; I felt that this room style was similar to triadic because of the multiple colors in one room. It is where a color on one side of the color wheel groups up with another two from the opposite side. We have pink, green, and blue for this example. The pink was used as the dark tone and the cool tones were the blue and green.

Low Key: A room filled with dark shades like black or brown. It is used to make the room feel quiet and relaxing. The only light found in the room is from the windows, other than that it is very dark in the room.

High Key: White and silver tones covered all over the room. Only some parts of the room breaks away from the brightness, in this case the floors are wood stain so the room is not overdone with so many bright tones all in one room. The big window on the side brings a lot of light into the room.

Triadic: In my opinion the most, bold of them all because of the colors that kind of go together but at the same time do not. There are three different shades in this room all from different sides of the color well. We have a green, yellow, and purple shade and I felt this room showed them very well balanced in this living room.

Complementary: A room used with colors found from opposite sides of the color well. In this case blue and yellow are different shades and color but match up nicely. They don't clash and look great together in this kitchen.

Analogous: The room is mixed with different colors but are similar. In this case we see shades of pink, red, and orange. They are all colors next to each other on the color well. They match up really well together in one room and compliment each other.

Monochromatic: A room filled with hues of a single color, in this case we have several shades of green put into one room. There are neutral colors as well to keep it balanced and make the room put together.
