this is probably the length of our fireplace . 1 ft on either side before cabinets would leave 3 ft on either side

if I was rich I would do a countertop style stone sourround and full plain cabinets that would not distract from the wall. I like the placement of this fireplace or a tad lower…

don’t really like it but might be because it is dark. cabinets are taller which seems good too much room above. need shelf? or is that all space we cannot use?
